Nope the reality is we've gone backwards and it is only a great achievement because we didn't strengthen our squad and did it with virtually the same team week in week out......this has a recipe for disaster as it stands......hoping upon hope that we make the necessary improvements to squad numbers in the obvious positions lacking depth......

Yup, and to build the narrative of the two 'superpowers' going head to head yet again in a rematch for the ages.
I wonder if they'll try to make it Nunez vs Haaland rather than Salah vs Haaland, though. Salah's not going to like being second fiddle so i hope he along with Mane fucks off and they drop off massively and don't make top two.

I think maybe a bit too much is being made of our end of season form, at least in terms of that carrying on to next year. Yes, we only got 11 points from our last 11 games, but 5 of them games were against top 5 opposition, and the other two that we lost were away to Brentford and Brighton, who we'd lost and drawn to at home earlier in the season.
Obviously I think we'd have done better with some signings in January but form is sometimes about fixtures as much as how well the team is playing.

They've given man city and Liverpool 6 soft opening game schedules. I suppose Sky want to get the Salah & Haaland goals started

Stating the obvious, it'll be easier to judge after who we sign, but given the way we ended the season, and the absolute ballache it seems for Moyes to want to sign players, I think we're looking more at top 10 this season.
Not a disaster, just very disappointing given what could have been were he not so stubborn and signed reinforcements in Jan. But as I said, old ground now.

fraser true there, I think the last 10 games we averaged just over a point a game. 1.1 I believe, which is almost relegation form
We really do need a strong transfer window with three of four players to strengthen the first team, but we'll be lucky to get one

It looks backwards on paper, but in reality being very competitive in Europe and qualifying for a European position via the league was an excellent achievement.
Maybe a more impressive feat than finishing 2 points off the CL the season before.

SoH is right, we went backwards last season.. Collapsed like an English batting line up.
We need serious reinforcements, until we know our squad hard to predict.. But not hopeful

The season before
Got in the Europa League, just missed out on CL
Last season
Got into the European Conference, just missed out on Europa League
Now you see where this is going and this is West Ham where there is a prominent history of capitulation from being great to utter shit plus we are unlikely to strengthen ourselves to the level we need to.....now......if you can tell us why this is not on a slippy slope downwards please feel free to spout your usual bollocks....

Which is crazy.
I don’t have high hopes for this season at all really. Unless I see actual significant transfer activity for us I don’t know how any of this gets solved.

Plenty were saying the same at the start of last season. Many were going on about how we missed out on the CL by two points, and how we won’t be able to be competitive in the league with the Europa League campaign.
Then we secured European qualification via the league for the 2nd consecutive season, and got to the semis in the Europa.
